Queen Elizabeth II and her husband, Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh, plan to visit New York City before returning to Great Britain on July 6, 2010. The visit will take place after finishing a nine day tour of Canada where she was present to mark Canada Day and to honor the Canadian Navy's centenary.

This visit to the U.S. on the Tuesday, which takes place immediately following the July fourth weekend, will mark the Queen's third trip to New York since she first visited in 1957. While the 84 year old Queen has visited the U.S. on other occasions throughout the years, the last time the Queen visited New York was in 1976 to participate in the bi-centennial celebrations.

During the royal couple's visit to the Big Apple Queen Elizabeth will make her first address to the United Nations General Assembly in over 50 years. The last address the monarch made was in 1957 during her first visit to New York's biggest city.
